The Warping Point Nightblade 002 is the second of two new Nightblades, alongside the Nightblade 001. Both cost $149.99 and share the same 16 mm full-foam construction with EFC perimeter foam, but the 002 uses an EPP foam core and an EVA foam edge, and the two play very differently.
Warping Point pitches it as power meeting stability, and in my testing that's about right. While it might not make our list of the best pickleball paddles, consistency is the story here, and will win it many fans.

My verdict4.5The Warping Point Nightblade 002 is a consistent, all-around power paddle with real pop on counters and a broader sweet spot. It gives up some soft-game feel compared to the 001, but it's the Nightblade I'd recommend.

Buy or pass?
Buy if:
You need pop on counters:
punch-counters against speed-ups land, which makes it far better for putting away speed-ups than the 001.
You want a broad, consistent sweet spot:
the sweet spot is broader than the 001's, and off-center hits stay predictable.
You want consistent drives and serves:
you can serve aggressively and keep drives ripping just over the net instead of hanging high.
Pass if:
You want a plush, cushioned feel:
the stiffer, sharper feel makes soft shots harder, so the Nightblade 001 is a better fit (see our best control paddles for more).
You want lots of spin:
the face doesn't feel very gritty, so check out the Vatic Pro V-SOL Tour Evergrit or our best spin paddles.
You want better value for the money:
there are some great pickleball paddles under $100 that give this a run for its money.
The Nightblade 002 trades soft-game feel for consistent pop
Even when the 002 was poppier, it behaved the same shot to shot. Drives and crashes were noticeably more repeatable than with the Nightblade 001, and I could serve aggressively and keep drives ripping just over the net instead of hanging high.
That comes down to the build. Warping Point says the EPP core delivers solid power with a more consistent, broader sweet spot, and testing confirms it. The sweet spot is broader than the 001's and the paddle plays consistently, with real pop on counters. The EFC perimeter foam is shared with the 001, but on this build off-center hits stayed consistent. The EVA foam edge gives a stiffer, sharper feel than the 001's TPE edge. Its effect is hard to isolate, but the paddle feels crisper and less pocketing.

Pop was the biggest difference for me. A lot of my game is waiting for a speed-up and putting it away, and I could punch-counter much more effectively than with the 001.
The trade-off is feel. The stiffer, sharper feel makes it harder to cushion the ball, so buttery third shot drops from the baseline and dinks with lots of topspin weren't as easy as on the 001. It's also a bit poppier, so keeping the ball down takes some attention, though it behaves predictably. The face doesn't feel very gritty either, so spin is underwhelming.
It's not heavy, but I didn't love the balance point, which didn't feel smooth swinging through the air. The grip also runs chunky, and the accentuated butt cap carves out a hand spot I don't love.
If you want raw, explosive power, our best power paddles are a better fit. But if you want a consistent paddle with real pop and a bigger sweet spot, the 002 is the Nightblade I'd recommend. If you'd rather have a plush soft game, the Nightblade 001 is the one to look at.

How the Nightblade 002 plays
| Category | Rating | Notes |
| Power | 9/10 | The pop is there. A lot of my game is waiting for a speed-up and putting it away, and I could punch-counter much more effectively than with the 001. I could also serve aggressively and drive consistently, keeping the ball just over the net instead of hanging high. |
| Control | 8.5/10 | Stiffer, sharper feel makes it harder to cushion the ball. Buttery third shot drops from the baseline and dinks with lots of topspin and feel weren't as easy as on the 001, but drives and serves were very controllable and consistent. |
| Spin | 8/10 | Underwhelming. The face doesn't feel very gritty, and the ball didn't have much bite on any shot. |
| Forgiveness | 8.5/10 | Broader sweet spot than the 001 and much more consistent off-center. It's a little poppier, so keeping the ball down takes attention, but it behaves predictably. |
| Weighting | 8.5/10 | Not heavy, but I didn't love the balance point. It didn't feel smooth swinging through the air. |
| Grip | 7/10 | Chunky handle with an accentuated, taped butt cap that creates a hand spot I don't love. |
| Durability | 8/10 | Nothing broke down during testing and I can't see it breaking, but the grit didn't feel very gritty to start and isn't proven long-lasting. |
| Aerodynamics | 8/10 | Not the fastest paddle in hand battles, but not sluggish either. |
✅ Pros
Real pop on counters
Punch-counters against speed-ups land, so you can wait for a speed-up and put it away. If power is your priority, also check out our best power paddles.
Broader, more consistent sweet spot
The sweet spot is broader than the 001's, and off-center hits stay much more consistent.
Consistent drives and serves
Drives and serves are very controllable. I could serve aggressively and keep drives ripping just over the net, and drives and crashes were more repeatable than with the 001.
❌ Considerations
Stiffer, sharper feel
The crisper, less pocketing feel makes cushioned drops and touch dinks harder. If soft-game feel matters more, the Nightblade 001 is the better pick.
Underwhelming spin
The surface doesn't feel very gritty. If spin is your priority, check out the Vatic Pro V-SOL Tour Evergrit or our best spin paddles.
Balance point isn't smooth
It's not heavy, but the balance point didn't feel smooth swinging through the air.
Nightblade 002 price – is it worth it?
At $149.99, the Nightblade 002 is competitively priced for the quality. Our 10% discount takes it down to $135, which is a nice sweet spot between a $100 paddle and paddles like the Bread & Butter Loco 2 and Six Zero Coral Pro ($200).
It's a good, consistent paddle for players who prefer a stiffer feel with a bigger sweet spot, and who want reliable serves, drives and punch-counters over a plush soft game. However, there are great-value pickleball paddles that give you more of a complete game at a similar or cheaper price.
