Body Helix isn’t exactly a household name in paddles, but perhaps it should be. The Charlotte-based company has really made a name for itself when it comes to innovation.
Sometimes that means building paddles that push the boundaries—like the oversized Flik Plus that was never going to be approved for official play.
But with the new Flik F1, released today, they’ve taken all that edge and channeled it into something tournament-ready.
This is Body Helix's first USA Pickleball-approved foam-core paddle, and after a few sessions, I could tell it was built for offense. It’s powerful, fast off the face, and delivers real spin without feeling harsh or unstable. The sweet spot is huge, especially for a paddle this quick.
It’s not perfect (I’ll get into the short handle and poppy touch later), but if you want clean power, the Flik F1 is worth a serious look.
Read on for my full first impressions of the Body Helix Flik F1.
A new foam core that delivers power, spin, and consistency
This is one of those paddles that feels purpose-built for aggressive players. That primarily comes from the paddle's new TerraCoreXC core — Body Helix’s patent-pending Gen 4 foam technology.
Compared to traditional honeycomb paddles (even thermoformed ones), this core gives you a smoother, more stable feel and a surprisingly large sweet spot. The paddle plays quiet and clean — more like an electric vehicle than a gas-powered thumper.
That said, it’s not soft. It’s explosive. Drives come off hot, and I never felt like I had to swing out of my shoes to generate offense. The face features four layers of Toray carbon plus a fiberglass center patch, which adds a bit of pop and bite when you need it.
There are still some drawbacks. The handle is short (5.25"), which limits two-handed comfort. And while the feel is dampened, it’s not for players who love plush, sinky paddles like the Vatic Pro V7 or JOOLA Hyperion. If your game revolves around finesse, resets, and long dink rallies, this might not be your fit.

✅ What stands out
Explosive power
The Flik F1 is tuned to the maximum legal power limit (0.43 PBCoR), and you feel it. The Flik generates tons of power with ease. Whether you’re swinging from the baseline or putting a ball away in tight exchanges, this paddle brings elite pop and drive potential.
Strong spin, especially on rolls and slices
The textured peel ply surface grabs the ball well. Topspin rolls and hard slices stayed low and nasty. I didn’t have to overdo it mechanically to generate RPMs.
Huge sweet spot
The sweet spot feels wide and consistent, giving you reliable bounce and contact across much of the paddle face. My off-center hits still carried energy and stayed on track.
Premium build and feel
From the core construction to its consistent performance, the Flik plays like a top-tier paddle — one that deserves to be in the $200 conversation.
❌ What to consider
Short handle (5.25")
Two-handers might struggle here. The grip feels solid and premium, but the length limits versatility — especially for players who like the backhand.
Less dwell for finesse
The ball pops off fast. If you’re used to paddles with deep pocketing or longer hold times, this one might feel quick and less controllable on soft shots.
Not for feel-based players
If your game revolves around shaping shots with finesse and precision, the reactive face might be a bit too bouncy and fast off the hand.

Spin | 9/10 | Strong spin generation across all shot types. Plenty of grip on the ball. |
Forgiveness | 8.5/10 | Broad sweet spot, forgiving bounce across the face — though some pop-ups can occur if you’re not precise. |
Weighting | 8/10 | Neutral swing feel — not overly head-heavy or light. Comfortable to swing. |
Grip | 8/10 | Nice grip feel, but the short handle limits comfort and versatility. |
Durability | 9/10 | The foam core seems sturdy and stable, so it should hold up over time. |

Features that matter
- 100% foam core: Delivers pop and structural stability while mimicking polymer paddle bounce.
- Broad sweet spot: Evenly reactive surface allows for consistent contact across much of the face.
- Spin-optimized surface: Lets players easily generate spin on drives, rolls, and flicks.
Who the Body Helix Flik F1 is for
If you’re an intermediate to advanced player who plays aggressive, this paddle is made for you. You’ll love the clean power, quiet feel, and legit spin. And if you’ve tried thermoformed paddles but hate the “crunch” or arm pain, the Flik offers a smoother, quieter ride.
It’s not ideal for feel-based players or those who want long dwell times and soft resets. But if you’re looking for an offensive weapon that plays smooth and lasts long, this paddle delivers.
