Still running your games out of a group chat?

Whether it’s iPhone, Android, or WhatsApp, it doesn’t take long before things get messy—too many replies, hard to tell who’s in, and no one remembers what time you’re playing.

Pickleheads makes it way easier. You can create a session and let the app handle the rest. No more juggling texts.

Here’s how to move your group over in just a few minutes.

💡 Pro tip: Whichever way you choose, you can also drop your Pickleheads session invite link into your existing chat to catch anyone you missed.

Step 1: Create a list in Pickleheads

Before you can invite players, you'll need to create a list:

  1. Open the Pickleheads app
  2. Tap Groups > My Lists
  3. Tap Create List and give it a name (like “Tuesday Night Crew”)

Stuck? Here's a walkthrough of how to create a list and add contacts.

Then you’ll choose how to add players. You’ve got a few options – and you might not even need to worry about exporting names and numbers from your text thread at all.

From your phone contacts

The simplest way to add people is straight from your phone contacts. If you’ve already got your group members saved in your phone, this is an easy way to get them on your list. Just tap “From your phone contacts,” give the app access to them, and start tapping the people you want to add.

If that’s not an option, you can use the steps below.

Step 2: Copy contacts from your text thread

🍏 iPhone (iMessage)

1. Open the group chat

2. Tap the group name at the top

3. Scroll to see the full list of participants

4. Tap each name > Info > copy the phone number

5. Switch back to Pickleheads, select “By email or phone” and paste into your list

🤖 Android

1. Open the group text

2. Tap the three dots > Group Details or People

3. You’ll see the list of members

4. Tap each one > copy the phone number

5. Go back to Pickleheads and paste into your list

🟩 WhatsApp

There are two ways to move your WhatsApp group contacts into Pickleheads—manually on your phone, or instantly using a browser extension.

Option 1: Manually on your phone

If you’re on mobile and want to do it manually:

1. Open the group chat

2. Tap the group name at the top

3. Scroll to see all members

4. Tap each name > view profile > copy their phone number

5. Paste each number into your Pickleheads list

⚠️ WhatsApp won’t always show contact info unless that person is saved in your phone or has shared it publicly.

Option 2: Use the SheetWA Chrome Extension

If you’re on desktop, this is the quickest way to grab all your WhatsApp group contacts at once.

1. Install SheetWA Go to the Chrome Web Store and add SheetWA to your browser.

2. Open WhatsApp Web Visit web.whatsapp.com and scan the QR code to log in.

3. Choose Your Group Open the WhatsApp group you want to export.

4. Launch SheetWA Click the SheetWA icon in your Chrome toolbar. Select Export Contacts > choose your group > download as CSV or Excel.

5. Copy the Numbers into Pickleheads Open the file, copy the phone numbers or email addresses, and paste them directly into your Pickleheads list. This is easiest to do on desktop.

📌 You don’t need to clean or reformat the file—just grab the numbers and go.

Ready to invite?

Once your session is set up, just tap Invite Lists and select your list. Everyone will get a text or email with a link to join—no account needed. You’ll know exactly who’s coming, and they’ll get automatic reminders so you don’t have to chase anyone down.
